Helsinki University Hospital targets 20% digital treatment path coverage with Tieto

helsinki university hospital (HUS) needed to respond to a growing demand for health services without compromising quality, aiming to shift focus to preventive and digital healthcare. The challenge was to utilize existing data to create new services and meet citizen expectations for digital health services on par with other sectors. Tieto partnered with HUS on the Digital Health Village solution to address this.

Tieto implemented a reusable digital platform featuring guided treatment paths, automated decision support, and tools for multi-professional teamwork. This solution improved access to care, reduced the workload of health professionals through automation, and enabled the rapid scaling of services. Measurable impacts included remote visits accounting for 7.5% of all receptions in 2020, with a target of 15% for 2021, and a goal to have 20% of patients covered by digital treatment paths. Tieto's partnership helped create an efficient, scalable, and internationally transferable eHealth service.
