Elisa cuts scam-call spoofing from 87% to 3% with Tieto

The customer, Finnish telecom company Elisa, faced a national challenge of rampant foreign phone scammers using caller ID spoofing to steal millions from citizens. Partnering with vendor Tieto Tech Consulting, Elisa sought to develop a solution to block these fraudulent calls and protect its customers.

Tieto helped Elisa develop a patented, innovative solution to identify and block scam calls using spoofed numbers. The results were dramatic, with spoofed calls dropping from 87% to just 3% of incoming international calls and criminal gains falling from over €7 million to about €2,700. This success led to a national mandate in Finland and is now being developed by Tieto into a scalable SaaS product for global markets.
