Case Study: Brown University achieves collaborative, cloud-based budgeting and unified planning with Tidemark

A Tidemark Case Study

Graduating from a Legacy Platform to Collaborative Planning in the Cloud

Brown University, a private Ivy League research university with an operating budget of $900 million, 8,000 students and 5,000 faculty and staff, faced a planning crisis after moving to Workday: their decade‑old legacy budgeting tools could not adapt to Workday’s new financial data model, forcing time‑consuming manual consolidation across four schools and blocking a reliable, university‑wide view of budgets and long‑range plans.

In April 2014 Brown deployed Tidemark’s cloud planning apps built on the Workday data model, giving 120+ users real‑time aggregation, workflow and driver‑based forecasting. The result was a single, shareable view of plans and analytics, elimination of manual consolidation, faster iterative budgeting and better strategic decision‑making across the university.
