A TidalScale Case Study
The University of Texas at San Antonio's Open Cloud Institute (OCI) sought to accelerate academic research by creating a standard platform that could handle a full range of computing needs. Their challenge was that traditional virtualization was insufficient for large-scale, in-memory big data problems, and other solutions required specialized coding knowledge, creating a barrier for many researchers. TidalScale provided the missing piece to overcome this obstacle.
The solution implemented the TidalScale platform to dynamically aggregate physical servers into larger software-defined systems, creating a foundation for Kubernetes. This allowed researchers to run existing applications at any arbitrary scale, unconstrained by physical hardware limitations. The TidalScale solution enabled the OCI to finalize its flexible service platform, which simplified research processes and accelerated the pace of big-data research.
