dm-drogerie markt, Germany’s largest drugstore chain with 1,250 stores and millions of Payback customers, wanted to turn a mobile coupon vision into reality: customers activating e‑coupons via Payback while shopping and redeeming them instantly at checkout. Their legacy process relied on overnight ETL batch updates and paper coupons, which was far too slow for real‑time redemption and couldn’t scale to the expected 4 million+ coupon requests per week.
Using TIBCO BusinessWorks, adapters and messaging, dm‑drogerie integrated partner systems, ERP customer data and POS in real time; a proof‑of‑concept took one week and deployment two days. The full German rollout completed in six months, processed 1.58 million requests in the first four weeks, cut coupon redemption from 24 hours to 30 seconds, and enabled more efficient services integration and faster international rollout.
