Atmel Corporation, a San Jose–based semiconductor manufacturer with a high-volume, high-mix fab in Colorado Springs, faced slow, inflexible yield analysis as product diversity outgrew its legacy tool. The incumbent application couldn’t handle large extracts, relied on hard-coded queries, struggled to pull external data and would have required a costly database replacement to scale.
