Tularik, a South San Francisco biotechnology firm developing therapeutics for cancer, inflammatory and metabolic diseases, faced a growing bottleneck in clinical pre‑marketing risk analysis as the number of trials and data streams increased. Working with Spotfire, Tularik implemented a guided DecisionSite application with intuitive visualizations, dynamic filters and phase‑specific workflows that let analysts evaluate multiple variables simultaneously. The new tool removed the analysis bottleneck, sped up work (Buchanan estimates analyses are roughly 10x faster than with spreadsheets), improved accuracy and helped the company identify and manage safety risks earlier, reducing wasted trial spend and enabling better go/no‑go decisions.
