The AA, the UK’s leading motoring organisation offering roadside assistance, insurance and related services, needed to modernize pricing as part of a broader IT transformation. Industry changes (including Insurer Hosted Pricing), a move to new CRM and MDM systems, and the need to serve fast quotes via its website and aggregators created requirements for a more flexible, high‑performance pricing engine and reusable APIs—otherwise slower responses risked losing market share.

AA implemented an ESB‑based solution with TIBCO ActiveMatrix BusinessWorks 6 and TIBCO Enterprise Message Service, validated by developer POCs and delivered with TIBCO Professional Services to integrate Radar Live and expose pricing and data services. The new pricing service tripled throughput and cut average quote time to about 1.5 seconds across 35 quotes/sec (roughly 75% faster than the SLA), boosting customer acquisition and retention and enabling expansion to other products and partner integrations.
