SEMARNAT Protects Natural Resources with Data Integration and National Reporting

Mexico’s Secretariat of Environment and Natural Resources (SEMARNAT) faced a cumbersome, largely manual approach to environmental reporting—relying on print publications and siloed datasets that slowed analysis and limited access. Seeking a scalable business intelligence and analytics platform to better manage national statistics and support conservation policy, SEMARNAT selected TIBCO to modernize its information systems.

Using TIBCO, SEMARNAT built the National System of Environmental and Natural Resources Information (SNIARN) and the National System of Environmental Indicators (SNIA), integrating databases, reports, and geospatial data into a web-based platform. The solution enables dynamic ad hoc queries, faster reporting, historical and comparative analysis, and broader public and stakeholder access—improving decision-making for conservation, streamlining reporting, and supporting future mobile and mapping capabilities.
