Scandinavian Airlines (SAS), Scandinavia’s largest carrier, faced a shift to a digital, customer-driven market and needed to move away from fragile point-to-point integrations. The airline sought a more loosely coupled, secure and high-performing integration platform to speed time to market, simplify partner onboarding, and support modern self-service booking and flight-update experiences.

SAS implemented a phased TIBCO-based integration platform—starting with an enterprise service bus and later adding Enterprise Message Service, ActiveMatrix BusinessWorks, Managed File Transfer, and an Integration Competency Center (ICC). The platform enabled real-time messaging and reuse of services, supported seamless vendor transitions, faster partner onboarding, a 24/7 web check-in, fewer business silos, and significantly reduced project delivery times.
