O-Bank, Taiwan’s first digitally native bank (rebranded from Industrial Bank of Taiwan in 2017), set out to make the smartphone “the bank,” offering real‑time, secure mobile financial services. Facing a tight timeline, the bank needed to evaluate, build, integrate and test commercial models, processes and application systems from scratch in under a year.
O-Bank implemented a TIBCO‑based platform (BusinessWorks and Enterprise Message Services) with strong governance and uniform data standards, enabling a loosely coupled, stable architecture. The result: development time cut by about 50%, service reuse up to 60%, automated operations with only one test-stage fault across 2,300 systems, and rapid product launches—helping the bank attract 130,000 new customers in less than a year while lowering maintenance and branch‑related costs.
