Nordisk Trygghetscentral Employs TIBCO Spotfire to Dramatically Reduce Crime Incidence for its Stockholm Business Clients

Nordisk Trygghetscentral is a Stockholm-based security consulting firm that helps property managers of gallerias, hotels and parking garages optimize protection using historical and real-time crime data. The company had compiled a database of more than 1 million police-recorded incidents but lacked a way to analyze the large, multi-source dataset to find actionable patterns for reducing theft, vandalism and violent crime.

By adopting TIBCO Spotfire to import, map and drill down into crime statistics, Nordisk identified time- and location-specific crime patterns and recommended targeted reallocations of security resources. Results included a large galleria saving 3M SEK (~$500,000) in security costs and seeing crime fall to almost zero with arrests made on site, a parking client cutting annual losses from 1.5M SEK (~$240,000) and reducing fee-avoidance from ~80 to 5 cars/day, and widespread reductions in vandalism and other offenses for hotel and retail clients.
