KPN Develops Intuitive TIBCO Spotfire and TIBCO iProcess Mash-Up Application to Expedite Fiber Optic Order Fulfillment Process

KPN’s Wholesale & Operations team, responsible for rolling out fiber service to millions of customers in the Netherlands, faced a complex order-fulfillment challenge: hundreds of system messages per second across many IT systems, frequent exceptions that required human intervention, and difficulty spotting, prioritizing and acting on the most critical issues from vast volumes of data.

KPN built an EHBO mash-up by layering TIBCO Spotfire analytics on top of TIBCO iProcess and the enterprise service bus to provide real-time, map- and chart-driven dashboards (refreshed every minute) for operators, supervisors and process controllers. The solution—prototyped in one month and deployed in three—streamlined exception handling, sped up order fulfillment, produced reliable KPI reports, and is easily adapted for new products or data sets, delivering faster, more efficient resolution and cost savings.
