KPN Delivers Customer Intelligence Faster and at Reduced Cost with TIBCO Spotfire Enterprise Analytics Platform

KPN is the leading telecommunications and ICT provider in the Netherlands; its Customer Intelligence (CI) division analyzes business-customer data to support marketing with reports, predictive models and segmentation. Facing rapid market change, CI needed fast, flexible ad‑hoc and standard reporting that could handle very large datasets and integrate with existing analysis tools—an attempted IT-driven automation proved too costly and slow.

After a successful Spotfire pilot, CI adopted the Spotfire Enterprise Analytics platform: it integrated with CI’s servers and LDAP, was easy for analysts to learn, supported dynamic drill-downs and web or PowerPoint/PDF distribution, and produced reports far faster (e.g., 60 graphs in an hour vs. 1–2 days previously). The result was significantly lower cost and turnaround time for reporting, improved speed to insight, and a full purchase of Spotfire in early 2009, with other departments expressing interest.
