Hotelbeds Group, a leading global bedbank serving 35,000 travel intermediaries and distributing more than 120,000 hotels across 180+ countries, faced chronic API-management problems: an aging XML API, massive request volumes that overloaded infrastructure, and frequent customer disconnects that cost bookings and revenue. The company’s priority was quota control and a more reliable way to support partner technical teams amid constant market change.
Hotelbeds rebuilt a RESTful API and adopted TIBCO Mashery and BusinessWorks to centralize documentation, manage quotas (throttling instead of disconnecting), and provide a developer portal and sandbox access. The platform now handles about 430 million data requests per day (~6,000/sec at peak), enables two-step booking, delivers faster, simpler integrations with clear monitoring and metrics, and supports a growing API program with improved stability and client experience.
