Array BioPharma Integrates TIBCO Spotfire and CambridgeSoft to Accelerate Drug Discovery and Translational Medicine Research

Array BioPharma, a Boulder-based biopharmaceutical company developing targeted small-molecule therapies for cancer and inflammatory diseases, faced a daunting data challenge: more than 1,000 diverse assays produced a highly multivariate, hierarchical and sparse data landscape that scientists were forced to analyze in Excel. They needed an interactive visualization and analysis platform that could aggregate across hierarchy levels, let users transition between summary and detail, and support rapid hypothesis testing across complex assay sets.

Array addressed this by integrating CambridgeSoft’s ChemBioViz with TIBCO Spotfire—quickly moving from proof-of-concept to production—to create a single workflow with a metadata-driven “shopping cart” for data selection, synchronized views, drill-downs, and automatic refresh. The combined system centralized assay data, improved access and visualization, accelerated decision-making (for example, revealing chemokine effects of an experimental therapy), and delivered immediate workflow efficiencies that Array calls a “best-of-both-worlds” solution for discovery research.
