United Technologies faced fragmented legal, managerial and tax entity data across many business units — 1,000+ legal entities, 218,300 employees, 4,000 locations and separate GEMS (legal), HFM (managerial) and CORPTAX systems — causing redundant data requests, manual reconciliation and complex 1:n/n:1 mappings and hierarchies. To address this they worked with TIBCO EBX, deploying EBX5 as a Reference Data Hub to centralize reference and master data governance, mappings and versioning.

TIBCO EBX implemented a governed Reference Data Hub that integrated GEMS (1,400+ legal entities), HFM (7,000 reporting entities) and CORPTAX (1,350+ international and 550 domestic tax entities), supported distributed workflows and role-based views, and provided a golden record for suppliers and organizational structure. The EBX solution (Phase I with 60+ CorpFin users) delivered a single source of truth, reduced redundant data requests and manual reconciliation, automated hierarchy and mapping updates for HFM, and enabled consolidated legal-entity financial reporting and downstream exports.
