How MDM is changing our way of working

SBM Offshore, a world leader in floating production systems, faced fragmented, low‑trust master data across a complex application landscape — multiple systems creating duplicate vendor records, no global data standards or ownership, and poor visibility for decision making. To address this, SBM Offshore engaged TIBCO EBX and its EBX5 master data management (MDM) solution as part of a broader enterprise architecture transformation.

Using TIBCO EBX (EBX5) SBM implemented a centrally governed MDM repository to consolidate vendor, reference and HR master data, enforce standards, and provide track‑and‑trace change visibility. The TIBCO EBX deployment went live in November 2015 and delivered a system‑independent single source of truth, enabling improved reporting, strategic sourcing and clearer data ownership; the program also flagged data quality issues (for example, 44 potential duplicate vendor records) and prepared HR job families/role profiles for enterprise distribution.
