Enabling a One Company Supply Chain in a Decentralized Environment

United Technologies faced a decentralized, multi‑ERP supply chain challenge across its brands and systems (CORP SAP, PW‑N SAP, PW‑S SAP, UTAS JDE, UTAS SAP) with more than 80% of parts supplier‑sourced and inconsistent supplier, commodity and organizational data. To create a “One Company Supply Chain” they engaged TIBCO EBX (EBX5) as the master‑data platform to centralize supplier, commodity, organization, geography and currency data and drive data validation and governance.

TIBCO EBX implemented a central repository and workflows—supplier parenting, enrichment, currency and country code management, import/export, history and forms—plus a Supplier Designation application built entirely in EBX5. The result was a unified, multi‑domain master dataset feeding enterprise systems, a culture shift toward one version of the truth, and measurable consolidation of variant records (for example, many IBM name variants normalized to INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS MACHINES CORP). TIBCO EBX enabled stronger data governance and a foundation for Supplier Insight modules (scorecards, risk, diversity, CLM) to improve supplier performance and compliance.
