Booksite, an online solution provider for independent booksellers, needed a way to support many different store fronts with one core system. As its customer base grew, it had to manage a large master catalog, let each bookstore customize inventory, pricing, and merchandising, and still deliver fast, reliable search and shopping cart functionality. Thunderstone’s Texis software provided the database, search engine, and application server foundation for this challenge.

Using Thunderstone Texis, Booksite built a centralized platform that lets about 150 bookstores run customized online stores from a single facility. The solution enabled separate site inventories, flexible search across fields like author, title, subject, publisher, and ISBN, and built-in e-commerce features, all while keeping administration simple and costs low. Booksite reports the system has been in place and growing for more than seven years, with strong performance, reliability, and efficient maintenance.
