Subsea 7, a global leader in offshore projects and services, needed a better way to connect and inform its dispersed workforce, especially offshore crews who often felt left out, disconnected, and reliant on social media for updates. Its existing communication channels were inconsistent and one-way, and could not reliably deliver timely messages such as safety alerts. To address this, Subsea 7 turned to Thrive and its flexible off-the-shelf communications platform.

Thrive implemented the 7OFFSHORE mobile intranet app, launched in October 2018, giving offshore staff access to news, contacts, vacancies, policies, safety updates, learning resources, and more, with social features like likes and comments and targeted user groups. The app has improved connection across worksite, home, and on the move, enabled direct communication with frontline staff, and helped safety alerts reach the right people quickly. Adoption has reached 69%, and the company says feedback has been strongly positive, with plans to expand the app to other remote teams.
