How Antrim & Newtownabbey Borough Council launched the iConnect app to re-engage employees and open communications to everyone

Antrim & Newtownabbey Borough Council partnered with Thrive to tackle poor internal communications following the merger of two local councils in Northern Ireland. With many employees working without regular computer or email access, the council needed a better way to re-engage staff, improve morale, and make important updates available to everyone.

Thrive built and launched the iConnect app, a mobile and desktop communications platform branded for the council and supported by an internal marketing campaign and staff roadshows. The app reached 20% uptake on day one and 57% of staff within the first few weeks, while also improving two-way communication, enabling peer recognition, reducing print costs, and helping the council share news, training, and core values more effectively.
