The City of Frankfurt am Main required a secure, multi-tenant messaging solution to replace shadow IT like WhatsApp and empower its many individual departments to manage their own users. They chose Threema Work from the vendor Threema to address this challenge and provide a privacy-compliant communication channel, especially for mobile employees.

The solution from Threema provided the necessary multi-tenancy, allowing over 33 different city offices to autonomously handle their own administration while central IT managed the basic setup. This Threema Work implementation was highly successful, onboarding over 1,600 employees by 2021 and establishing itself as the preferred communication tool for staff on the move, effectively eliminating the use of unsecure messaging apps.
