University of Baltimore - Customer Case Study

The University of Baltimore, an open academic environment in Baltimore, Maryland, was spending significant staff time manually blacklisting IPs and cleaning up malware infections that were degrading host performance and creating security risks. To reduce these burdens, the university turned to ThreatSTOP and its ThreatSTOP Shield service, integrated with Juniper SRX Services Gateways.

ThreatSTOP implemented automated IP-based blocking and continuous blocklist updates through the firewall, immediately stopping malware and botnets. The results included a 90% drop in malware-related help desk tickets, from 10–18 per month to 1–2, plus improved network performance and prevention of a potential breach when a “botted” user was quarantined before damage occurred.
