Detecting and Stopping Attacks More Accurately and Quickly with ThreatSTOP

Hillsborough Community College, a large multi-campus institution with about 40,000 students and 4,000 employees, needed a better way to detect and stop botnets, malware, and command-and-control traffic across its distributed network. The college turned to ThreatSTOP, using ThreatSTOP Shield and ThreatSTOP DNS Firewall to improve threat prevention and centralize protection across campuses.

ThreatSTOP was integrated with the college’s Cisco ASA firewall so malicious IPs were automatically blocked at both the DNS and firewall levels, with reporting used to monitor activity and guide response. The results were strong: Hillsborough Community College saw very few false positives, less than 1% over the years, no performance issues, and minimal staffing overhead, while improving visibility, reducing malware spread, and strengthening defenses across the entire college.
