How ThreatMark’s AI-Powered Authentication Enhances Security & User Experience for Slovenská sporiteľňa (Erste Group)

Slovenska Sporitelna, part of Erste Group with over 1 million clients, faced costly, insecure and disruptive SMS one-time-passwords (OTPs) at every login and needed to meet PSD2 RTS requirements while improving fraud detection and user experience. They engaged ThreatMark and its AI-powered risk-based authentication, deploying ThreatMark’s Anti-Fraud Suite (AFS) to address these challenges.

ThreatMark deployed AFS across the bank’s online channels, using device signals, behavioral biometrics, transaction and contextual data to generate real-time risk scores and invoke strong authentication only for high-risk sessions. As a result ThreatMark helped Slovenska Sporitelna save about €1 million per year in SMS costs, reduce average login time by over 50%, limit manual MFA to under 10% of logins, achieve 100% threat identification in tests, deliver a 70% better detection rate versus competitors and cut false positives by 90%, while ensuring PSD2 compliance.
