The Neat Company, a market leader in digital filing hardware and desktop software, needed to move beyond one-time license sales to offer cloud-connected, mobile-first products that let users scan, sync and access information from iOS, Android and desktop devices. The challenge was to deliver this new subscription-based product line quickly and cost-effectively while extending market reach and enabling remote access and backups.

ThoughtWorks helped design and build NeatCloud and NeatMobile using a hybrid native/mobile-web approach, Ruby on Rails backend, and an offshore Distributed Agile model with Continuous Delivery to scale the team fast. The result was a rapid launch of cloud-enabled apps that use device cameras for scanning, synchronize across devices, reduce development and QA effort, and create a recurring subscription revenue stream with strong cross-sell opportunities to over one million existing customers.
