Sukrupa - Customer Case Study

Sukrupa is a Bangalore-based charity founded by Krupalatha Martin Dass that provides food, safe space and education to more than 400 children from urban slums. The organisation faced a critical challenge when PayPal froze online donations, cutting off a vital funding channel, and relied on manual Excel spreadsheets for student records and volunteer management, which consumed scarce staff time and limited outreach.

ThoughtWorks University ran a pro bono Agile program across three six-week sprints to deliver a new website and admin system. The team rebuilt sukrupa.org (hosted on AWS) with Wordpress content management, integrated global donations via the Ammado platform, introduced a student records system, volunteer signup, newsletter tools and automated testing, and prepared the project for open-source collaboration. The work restored online giving, freed staff from spreadsheet work, improved sponsor and volunteer engagement, and created a sustainable, community-supported platform for ongoing development.
