Comparethemarket.com, one of the UK’s best-known price comparison sites, wanted to extend its popular motor insurance offering to mobile users after seeing low conversion rates from mobile browsers on its desktop-designed journey. Working with ThoughtWorks, the company also wanted to build on earlier success from a new credit card and loan comparison product while strengthening its in-house Agile and delivery capabilities.
ThoughtWorks implemented a mobile web solution using a walking skeleton approach, a single-page application, and continuous delivery with automated testing and GoTM. The project reused existing desktop services to reduce cost and improve ROI, launched on time and on budget, and had 92% of desktop user paths built and tested early enough to support an accelerated release. The new mobile experience improved usability for small screens and helped increase quote completion rates.
