A ThoughtFarmer Case Study
Mountain Equipment Co-op (MEC), a Vancouver-based retail co-op with 14 stores and 1,500 employees, needed to unify a dispersed workforce and preserve its collaborative culture after rapid expansion. Front-line staff often lacked company email or desk access, so MEC faced fragmented communications, low information centralization and a need for a two-way, social intranet that would reach everyone — including part-timers and remote users.
MEC implemented ThoughtFarmer to launch Mondo, a bilingual, universally accessible intranet with calendars, forms, HR docs, forums and store-facing apps. Adoption quickly exceeded targets (about 85% regular logins) and drove measurable benefits: thousands of pages, comments and documents created, major time savings (e.g., stock-replenishment coordination dropped from hours to 15–20 minutes), fewer emails, leaner IT overhead and stronger employee engagement and cross-location collaboration.
