Overcoming language and cultural challenges: Thoughtexchange helps facilitate UNESCO event

Thoughtexchange supported a Strategy Lab at UNESCO/UNHCR’s Mobile Learning Week 2017 where about 45 international experts gathered to identify mobile education solutions for refugees. The group faced language and cultural barriers that made it difficult for everyone to speak up and contribute equally.

By running a single-question, confidential online exchange accessible on mobile devices, participants independently submitted and rated ideas, allowing facilitators to instantly surface the top five technologies. The approach produced rapid consensus, focused breakout discussions, ensured equal participation, and generated concrete input for an action plan to improve mobile learning in crisis settings.
