A ThoughtExchange Case Study
Northern Gateway Public Schools, a rural Alberta division of 18 schools, responded to a provincial directive to improve teacher efficacy by actively engaging staff to surface real classroom barriers. Rather than imposing solutions, the division sought authentic input and discovered that administrative housekeeping, inconsistent processes across schools, and cumbersome Individual Program Plans (IPPs) were among the biggest obstacles to teachers’ ability to positively influence students.
NGPS partnered with Thoughtexchange to run an anonymous, high-participation engagement—195 of 300 teachers (over 60%) contributed—producing 35 priorities and a focused plan to address the top five. The division is streamlining IPP procedures, rolling out supports and resources, and has begun implementing several priorities; early results include improved teacher confidence and clearer benefits for student learning.
