A ThoughtExchange Case Study
Glendora Unified School District in California needed a better way to meet state LCAP requirements for meaningful stakeholder engagement. After inviting 10,000 parents to a review meeting and getting only 50 attendees, the district sought a solution that would produce representative input across parents, students and staff without dramatically increasing staff workload.
They piloted Thoughtexchange — a single, asynchronous online process with English/Spanish options and a Star Step rating system — replacing dozens of town halls. The district saw about 1,200 participants and collected 2,133 thoughts and 61,349 stars; responses were themed to LCAP priorities and disaggregated by demographics. The results revealed safety as the top concern and led to new security checks and consideration of cameras, alarms and fencing, while delivering faster, more inclusive input for planning.
