Engagement provides competitive edge

SSDG Interiors is a Vancouver-based interior architecture firm with three decades of experience in the corporate sector. As workplace culture and stakeholder priorities shifted, clients began prioritizing employee engagement—often led by HR rather than finance—but many organizations remained wary of traditional surveys and feared being overwhelmed by unrepresentative or infeasible demands.

To address this, SSDG partnered with Thoughtexchange to run quick, open-ended employee engagements where participants read and rate peers’ ideas, surfacing group priorities and avoiding “squeaky wheel” bias. The approach gave SSDG actionable insights to design spaces that match how people actually work, helped win more projects, created a standardized engagement dataset for benchmarking and trend forecasting (including Millennial preferences), and reduced client fear around transparent change conversations.
