A ThoughtExchange Case Study
Westview School Corporation, an Indiana school district facing state funding shortfalls and a possible general fund referendum, needed to identify common spending priorities despite having two distinct community groups—conservative Amish families without electronic access and “English” families with different educational priorities. Traditional surveys couldn’t reach or connect both groups, making it difficult to have a shared conversation about district needs.
Westview used Thoughtexchange, sending electronic questions to English families and paper questionnaires for Amish households, then aggregating responses so both communities could see and react to each other’s thoughts. The process revealed community support for measured technology use, leading to a one-to-one Chromebook program for high school students and stronger community engagement around district decisions.
