How Onshape Scaled Onboarding From Dozens to Thousands of Customers

Onshape, a Cambridge‑based cloud-native CAD software company used by engineers in more than 170 countries, needed to vastly improve and scale its customer onboarding and education. The company faced fragmented training content spread across multiple platforms and disparate customer databases, and sought a unified learning solution to shorten the learning curve and drive product adoption. To address this, Onshape partnered with Thought Industries to deploy a centralized learning platform (the Thought Industries learning center).

Using the Thought Industries learning center, Onshape consolidated training assets, migrated customer data into a single database, and implemented tracking and reporting to monitor learner behavior. The result was a dramatic scale-up in onboarding capacity—“before we were only able to serve dozens of customers at a time. Now, we’re able to serve thousands”—along with improved product adoption, stronger retention, and customers who increasingly act as advocates for Onshape.
