A Thornton Tomasetti Case Study
The Philadelphia Eagles faced the challenge of renovating their home stadium, Lincoln Financial Field, to add more seating, improve Wi-Fi access and circulation, and install larger video boards without disrupting any games or events during the NFL season. They engaged the vendor Thornton Tomasetti to provide structural design and construction engineering services for this complex project.
Thornton Tomasetti implemented a carefully phased construction plan executed over two off-seasons. Their solution included creating a detailed 3D model with integrated steel connections to streamline fabrication and ensure accuracy. The renovation successfully added thousands of new seats, improved sightlines, installed massive new video boards, and added new bridges and elevators for better crowd flow. As a result, Thornton Tomasetti helped enhance the fan experience at the fully operational stadium, which now has a seating capacity of 69,796.
