Mohegan Tribal Gaming Authority targets LEED Gold on 42-acre Mohegan Sun project with Thornton Tomasetti

The Mohegan Tribal Gaming Authority engaged Thornton Tomasetti to provide sustainability consulting and energy modeling services for the design of a new, high-performance casino development in Revere, Massachusetts. Their challenge was to design one of the world's greenest casino properties, targeting LEED Gold certification for the large-scale project.

Thornton Tomasetti worked closely with the customer and the design team to develop innovative sustainability strategies. The proposed solution included a gas-fired CHP system, a large rooftop solar array, green roofs, and water reuse systems. Through detailed energy modeling and examining numerous design iterations, Thornton Tomasetti helped the project team work towards its ambitious energy performance targets for the facility, which was ultimately not built.
