Case Study: Leidos achieves a LEED Gold headquarters in Reston Town Center with Thornton Tomasetti structural design

A Thornton Tomasetti Case Study

Leidos opens 17Fifty at Reston Town Center with Thornton Tomasetti: 373,000 ft², 17-story headquarters

The global headquarters for Leidos, an information technology contractor, required a new 17-story office tower in Reston, Virginia. Their challenge was to develop a structurally complex building with dramatic angles and multiple outdoor terraces. Thornton Tomasetti was engaged to provide structural design services for this project.

Thornton Tomasetti implemented a structural solution that carefully configured columns to coordinate with column-free office space above and efficient parking layouts below. The result was the successful delivery of the 373,000-square-foot complex, which is designed to achieve LEED Gold certification and won a James M. Scott Exceptional Design Honorable Mention in 2020.
