The company wanted a better health and wellbeing scheme to reduce long-term sick leave and catch health issues earlier, especially in a demanding work environment where stress could lead to absence.

Thomsons Online Benefits implemented a health and wellbeing program that included an occupational health hotline, Best Doctors access, high medical cover, an employee assistance program, company-paid Bupa health assessments, onsite quick health checks, online health assessments, and manager awareness training. The results were significant: Cisco saw a 40% reduction in employees taking long-term sick leave, saving around £500,000, with stress-related absence falling to 10 staff and UK HR time spent on benefit-related queries reduced by 10%.
