Broward County Water & Wastewater Services replaces 3-mile sewer system with Thompson & Associates

The customer, Broward County Water & Wastewater Services, faced the challenge of replacing an entire aging sanitary sewer system serving a three-mile oceanfront corridor. They engaged the vendor, Thompson & Associates, as the Engineer-of-Record to provide comprehensive engineering services for this complex project in a constrained right-of-way.

Thompson & Associates designed and managed the complete replacement of all sewer structures, gravity mains, and force mains. A key part of their solution was conducting a lift station study to design a more efficient and reliable system, including a new alternate force main that improved redundancy. Their services encompassed design, multi-agency permitting, and construction administration for the $9.5 million project, which was successfully completed from 2016 to 2018.
