Case Study: Antea Group achieves future-proof, cloud-based asset management with Thinkwise

The powerful calculation engine supporting a new generation assetmanagement software

Antea Group, the developer of the GBI asset-management system used by more than a hundred Dutch municipalities, faced the challenge of modernizing its legacy platform to meet changing managerial demands—cloud access, integrated data sharing, and future-proof calculation and forecasting tools—while keeping existing calculation logic and local configurability intact. To achieve this, Antea Group partnered with Thinkwise and used the Thinkwise low-code Platform and Thinkwise Web GUI to migrate and modernize core components such as the GBIappsbank and GBIkennisbank.

Thinkwise helped build GBI World, a cloud-based web portal that consolidates GBI modules, exposes APIs for service-oriented workflows, and replaces an Oracle backend with PostgreSQL while preserving the Thinkwise-built calculation engine. The result is easier maintenance (calculation methods remain intact and are updated effortlessly), broader accessibility and integration, faster release cycles and seamless data transfer for customers, plus a modernized GUI and improved functionality. Thinkwise’s low-code approach—reported in the case study to be up to 10× faster than traditional development—enabled quicker modernization of the legacy system and steady roll-out of the new GBI World release.
