Kolbus develops a powerful, modern ERP system to replace Uniface with Thinkwise

Kolbus, the nearly 250-year-old special machinery manufacturer, faced the urgent need to replace its 30-year-old, Uniface-based self-developed ERP that supported complex, unique production and business processes for roughly 500 users. Standard packages and a full manual rewrite were impractical, and retiring Uniface experts meant the company could no longer find developers for the legacy technology. Kolbus therefore selected the Dutch low-code platform Thinkwise to modernize its mission‑critical core system.

Using Thinkwise’s low-code development platform and service, Kolbus rebuilt its ERP to support modern web and mobile workflows, accelerate development, and simplify onboarding of younger developers. The migration—one of the largest IT projects in Kolbus history—now serves about 500 users, preserves the company’s bespoke processes, reduces dependence on legacy Uniface expertise, and delivered faster, more maintainable core systems with strong vendor commitment from Thinkwise.
