Aartsen chooses Thinkwise low-code platform to digitalize its business processes

Aartsen, a century-old family wholesaler of fruit and vegetables with over 200 employees and international branches, faced a legacy-software challenge: critical processes from goods receipt to final settlement relied on IBM AS/400 screens and paper documents, requiring manual re-entry and bespoke reporting to meet many growers’ varied requirements. To replace its existing business software and eliminate paper, Aartsen selected low-code vendor Thinkwise and its Thinkwise Platform to modernize and automate these processes.

Thinkwise ran a three-week Proof of Value, modernizing AS/400 screens and then delivering a new application and temporary AS/400 interface that digitalized large parts of the offline workflow; the solution went live at the end of 2019 with a full ERP modernization planned for completion in 2021. The Thinkwise Platform streamlined operations, reduced errors, enabled digital confirmations in six languages (Dutch, German, English, French, Spanish, Italian), and produced year‑round digital statistical overviews instead of a single manual annual report, moving Aartsen significantly closer to a paperless operation.
