Glasgow Science Centre - Customer Case Study

Glasgow Science Centre, one of Scotland’s leading visitor attractions, needed a better way to manage complex staffing patterns across its 10-acre site. With seasonal peaks, high volumes of casual staff, and rising overtime costs, the team struggled to control hours and produce accurate payroll information. Thinking Software provided its Rota Horizon time and attendance and rostering system to help address these challenges.

Thinking Software implemented Rota Horizon across the site, giving Glasgow Science Centre the ability to plan rotas up to two years ahead, forecast and track labour costs, and capture staff time using swipe readers. The system also provided reconciliation of actual versus expected hours, exception-based reporting, HR tracking, and an automatic payroll interface. As a result, overtime costs were reduced to a fraction of their previous level, weekly corrections became quicker, and managers gained easier access to clear, reliable information.
