Wilhelmsen Keeps Global Shipping Moving with an Interactive Map

Wilhelmsen, a global maritime industry group, faced a significant challenge during the Covid-19 pandemic as port restrictions around the world changed daily. They needed a way to efficiently provide their global employees with immediate access to this large volume of constantly evolving information. To solve this, Wilhelmsen turned to the vendor ThingLink to create an interactive solution.

ThingLink implemented an Interactive Global Port Restrictions Map featuring over 50 geographic hotspots with customized icons to display real-time port information. The solution included region-specific zoomed-in maps to prevent overcrowding and integrated live chat support via Zendesk. This allowed Wilhelmsen employees to access critical, up-to-date information 24/7, speeding up learning and decision-making while saving time and resources by eliminating the need for developer involvement in updates. The map was used for as long as Covid-19 restrictions were in effect at ports worldwide.
