New Ways to Use ThingLink for Employee Training and Virtual Tours

Historic Environment Scotland (HES), the organization responsible for caring for Scotland's historic environment, faced the challenge of creating engaging and accessible digital learning content for both employee training and public education. They sought versatile solutions for internal accredited courses, public learning materials, educational virtual tours, and on-site orientation guides.

The vendor, ThingLink, provided a platform that HES used to build a variety of interactive experiences. This included a virtual case study for a building conservation diploma, public-facing 360° tours of traditional building materials, interactive on-site maps for visitor orientation, and a virtual tour of Edinburgh Castle for younger learners. The results were highly positive, with one virtual map receiving over 14,500 views and the educational tour engaging over 10,500 learners. Staff and visitors found the ThingLink resources intuitive and effective, leading HES to permanently adopt the solution and plan for further expansion.
