How to Create Realistic Virtual Learning Environments for Trainees

The University of Central Lancashire School of Medicine needed to move a hands-on medical workshop for 345 interdisciplinary health students online after it was cancelled due to Covid restrictions. The challenge was to virtually replicate a realistic patient home visit to teach crucial observational and diagnostic skills. The university turned to vendor ThingLink and its interactive image platform to create a solution.

ThingLink provided the solution by enabling the creation of an interactive 360-degree scene of a patient's home, which was cloned and customized for different student disciplines. Students used the visual tags and multimedia content within the scene to collaboratively diagnose a patient and create a management plan. This successful implementation led the university to continue using ThingLink for other innovative projects, like building a virtual escape room, cementing its role in providing effective and inspiring virtual training environments.
