How Mitsubishi Electric is Creating Innovative VR Training with ThingLink

Mitsubishi Electric UK (MEUK), a division of the global heating and ventilation company, faced challenges with its traditional in-person training. The existing methods were often not engaging enough for online learners, were logistically difficult for staff across the UK, and created scheduling bottlenecks due to limited trainer availability. MEUK sought a more immersive, cost-effective, and sustainable training solution to improve knowledge retention and operational efficiency.

The company implemented ThingLink's VR creation platform to develop immersive, interactive training modules in-house. Using 360-degree media annotated with multimedia content, MEUK delivered training via Meta Quest 3 headsets. The solution from ThingLink resulted in extremely positive trainee feedback, with 99% of attendees recommending the new courses. Measurable impacts included significant cost savings of over £211,000 on materials and catering, a reduction of 462,600 travel miles, and the ability to train over 5,000 people annually with the new scalable system.
