A Thinglink Case Study
The Department of the Secretary of State in Maine sought new technologies to showcase the Maine State Archives' historical holdings and engage citizens, particularly students. They needed an innovative way to celebrate the state's bicentennial and provide educational resources to schools and libraries without the logistical costs of physical travel. They chose ThingLink to create immersive virtual tours.
Using ThingLink, the department created three interactive VR tours of notable Maine locations. The tours were embedded on their website and brought directly to students using VR kits in schools and libraries. The project was immediately successful, with positive feedback from students and teachers at the first school visit, which was covered by local news. This positive reception led to the creation of many more tours, effectively providing new resources for schools and increasing engagement with state history.
